- Name:
The complete name of the organization is: Independent Homeschoolers’ Network
Inc., hereinafter referred to as “IHN”.
- Mission Statement:
The Independent Homeschoolers' Network is an informal, all inclusive
association of home educators bound by a strong sense of camaraderie and a
common interest in the benefits of home education. Our activities are geared to
the socialization and/or education of children. We do not subscribe to any
particular methodology, theology, or philosophy, but we encourage our members to
seek the educational paths that best meet their educational needs and goals.
- The Goals for which IHN is organized are as follows:
- To support each other in the endeavor to educate our children.
- To help parents who are considering home schooling in making an
informed decision.
- To encourage the educational growth of students and parent
educators.
- To facilitate the social and educational growth of home schooled
children.
- Membership
- Membership is attained by completing a membership form and paying
the annual dues, as determined by the Board. The member will be entitled
to all IHN benefits.
- Officers
- The officers of IHN shall consist of the President, a
Vice-President, a Treasurer, a Secretary and a number of committee
chairs, as deemed necessary.
- An Annual Membership meeting will be held before the end of the
calendar year to elect the Board.
- During the course of the year, further vacancies will be filled by a
majority vote of those remaining on the Board.
- The IHN Board may remove any officers appointed by a majority vote
of the IHN Board, whenever it is judged to be in the best interest of
IHN. The member, with respect to who action has been proposed, shall be
entitled to be heard by the Board before any such motion is acted upon.
- Meetings
- There shall be an Annual Meeting of the Membership to appoint a
Board for the upcoming year.
- Meetings of the Board or committees will also be held as required to
carry out its purposes.
- A majority of the IHN Board will constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business at any Board meeting and the act of such a
majority shall be the act of IHN.
- Meetings will be held in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order.
- Accountability
- IHN will prepare an annual budget which will be maintained and
administered by the Board. An annual report will be presented to the
members at the Annual Membership Meeting.
- The Treasurer will bear the obligation to ensure that all funds are
distributed in accordance with accepted accounting practices.
- Amendments
- The By-Laws may be altered, amended or repealed and new By-Laws may
be adopted by a majority of the Membership present at a General
Membership Meeting if at least ten days prior notice is given reflecting
such intention.
